Two cleaning quotes can look very different because they include different work. A short room-by-room brief helps you request comparable prices and avoid surprises on the day.

Describe the space and the type of clean

Say whether the job is a home, office or another type of property. Include the approximate size, number of rooms and bathrooms, and whether it is a regular clean, a move-out clean or a one-off deep clean. Mention whether the property is occupied and which areas need the most attention.

Separate the essentials from the extras

List the tasks you expect, such as floors, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces or interior windows. Ask separately about appliances, upholstery, carpets, high windows and post-construction dust if those apply. Do not assume a provider includes specialist work just because it appears in a general cleaning category.

Discuss supplies and access

Confirm who supplies equipment and products, whether water and electricity are available, and how the team will enter the property. Mention parking, stairs and any building access times. If you have preferences about cleaning products or areas that should not be touched, share them before accepting the quote.

Compare the complete job

Ask for a written scope, the number of cleaners if relevant, expected duration and total price. Clarify whether transport and applicable taxes are included. Use the same brief for each business, then compare the proposed work and availability alongside the price. Keep the agreement in the conversation so both sides can refer back to it.
